The Fox 5 is an all-terrain stroller that's perfect for parents who love to go off-road. It comes with a suspension that is impressive and large wheels that are puncture-proof.

Our tester Claire was impressed by the neat, easy-to-open packaging and found it one of the fastest and easiest pieces of baby equipment to put together. She took it out for a spin around some rough terrain and was extremely pleased with its performance.

Seats

The majority of triple buggies are designed as single pushchairs. Some models can be converted to accommodate an additional seat by using adapters. You'll also find that some models will allow you to add a ride-on board for older children who want to walk but require some help.

For a light-weight option that is ideal for city streets, take a look at the Joie Evalite Duo. It's easy to move, and it has a large basket that is full of storage. It can be used to accommodate twins from birth and accept two car seats or seats and a carrycot. The seats must be facing towards the front and there is no room to store bags of groceries under the seat. You will require a sidepack.

Mountain Buggy Duet will be the best choice when you love off-roading. It's a side by tandem with the slimmest footprint of any double buggy that is available. It is easier to get through narrow doors on public transport, and to climb over and over kerbs. It also has a handbrake that is attached to the handlebar that can be adjusted for more security and safety.

Another option that is lightweight is the UPPAbaby Vista 2 Double that can be used for twins or a baby and toddler. The seats have multi-position reclining and UPF 50+ sunshades, while the canopy can be adjusted to keep the sun from your child's eyes. The Vista 2 can be converted into triple by adding UPPAbaby's 'PiggyBack’ board for older children.

The iCandy Orange is one of the most well-known double buggies that are available because of its exceptional comfort. It's a true all-terrain pushchair with soft suspension to make smooth work of bumpy surfaces. It can be used in 30 seating configurations, and comes with a built-in ride-on board for older kids who prefer walking, and a 'cinema seating' mode that raises the back of the seat to allow for better visibility.

Alternatively, the phil&teds dot is a brilliant single buggy that is available from day one that is able to easily be adapted to take 2 (or 3!) different configurations. This is especially useful when you have a child in a car seat, since the frame can be fitted with a wedgie for optimum position, and also car seat adapters for a wider range of brands.

Suspension

The suspension of a double 3 wheel jogger-wheel buggy will determine the ease with which your child/children and you can push it. It is important to have a smooth ride, because babies can feel every bump on the road. This is especially relevant if you drive on rough terrain like grass or roads that aren't paved. Some models have front tires that lock to assist in maneuvering and getting over obstacles like curbs.

Certain models have air-filled tyres which will provide a fantastic all-terrain adventure, but they could be susceptible to punctures, so make sure you have spares in the trunk. Others have foam or gel tyres, which are designed to withstand bumps and are less prone to punctures however, you might feel a bit stiff and uncomfortable for your child's back should you choose to jog.

MFM reviewer Kath tested the Urban Glide 2 through its paces with her infant and three years old, and found that it coped really well on tricky terrain: "it navigated effortlessly over grass and bumpy pavements dirt tracks, cobbles and cobbles with ease and was easy to manoeuvre around corners and climb up and down kerbs. It's also very comfortable to jog with the 16" rear wheels and lockable swivel front wheels providing a safe jogging experience." Folding

A three-wheel double buggy can fold up pretty neatly to be stored. You can find options that fold flat and then stand up (as as if they were in a pushchair) and also those that pop up to reveal a more umbrella-style fold with the option of a brake operated by hand. The more wheels a buggy has, in general the more easy it will be to maneuver through rough terrain. This is especially true if the wheels are larger than the average size. You will have more stability, and it will be less likely that you will be forced to tip over or flip your child.

The iCandy Wave is a popular option. It can be used in conjunction with an infant car-seat from birth and then converted into a double buggy side-byside after your child has reached the age of. It's a comfortable and light-feeling model, which makes it easy to push, and it comes with extra features, including a bumper bar and raincover.

The phil&teds sports is an alternative option. It is a future-proof model as it's an excellent buggy that can be altered to accommodate two (or three!) within its compact footprint. It has an innovative three-wheel design that includes a sling for greater maneuverability and stability.

This is the best double buggies to run with your kids. It has a lockable front wheel which can help you keep your balance on hilly or off-road terrain. It comes with a huge undercarriage, an adjustable handlebar, and soft suspension to provide an enjoyable ride.

It's a light, compact option that folds easily with one hand. It's ideal for travel. It's compatible with a wide variety of infant car seats and comes with a handy pull-out undercarriage basket that can be used to store things to shop. It's not cheap 3 wheel buggy, but it has certain standout features, such as its one-click folding, as well as a variety of extras, including a bumper bar or raincover.

Storage
